About University of Aberdeen Museums

The University of Aberdeen Museums has the third largest Egyptian archaeology collection in Scotland. The bulk of the University of Aberdeen’s collection of Egyptian antiquities was formed in the late 19th century from the gifts of graduates of the University whose travels had taken them to the Mediterranean and Near East, most notably Dr Robert Wilson who bequeathed his collection in 1871 and James Grant ‘Bey’ in 1897.
